Li Peihe: TCM Recovery from Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
Case Summary
Patient: Li Peihe, male, 45 years old
Diagnosis: Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL/M3)
History: Diagnosed with APL in 2019. After standard chemotherapy achieved partial remission, the patient experienced severe side effects including persistent fatigue, recurrent infections, and abnormal bleeding. He sought TCM treatment at our hospital.
TCM Treatment
After thorough TCM pattern differentiation, Director Yuan identified the pattern as qi-yin deficiency with residual toxin. A personalized herbal formula was prescribed to tonify qi and nourish yin while clearing residual pathogenic factors.
After 3 months of treatment, blood counts stabilized significantly. After 6 months, bone marrow examination showed complete remission. The patient continued consolidation therapy for another 6 months.
Outcome
Follow-up examinations over 2 years show stable remission with normal blood counts and no relapse. The patient has returned to normal work and life.
