ITP: TCM Treatment Approach
Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is characterized by low platelet counts causing bleeding tendency. TCM views ITP as a disorder of Qi failing to control blood, combined with heat forcing blood out of vessels.
TCM Syndrome Types
Blood Heat: Acute onset, bright red bleeding, fever. Treatment: Clear heat, cool blood, stop bleeding.
Qi Deficiency: Chronic course, fatigue, pale complexion, recurring purpura. Treatment: Tonify Qi, control blood.
Yin Deficiency with Heat: Night sweats, dry mouth, scattered purpura. Treatment: Nourish Yin, clear deficiency heat.
Our Treatment Advantage
Unlike steroids and splenectomy which only provide temporary relief, our TCM treatment addresses the root cause by regulating immune function and restoring normal platelet production. Most patients can gradually discontinue steroids within 2-3 months while maintaining stable platelet counts.
