Case Summary

Patient: Qu Hongliang, male, 18 years old

Diagnosis: Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS-RA)

History: A high school student diagnosed with MDS who had to abandon his studies due to severe anemia requiring frequent transfusions. Western medicine offered only supportive care. His family sought TCM treatment hoping for improvement.

TCM Treatment

Pattern: spleen-kidney deficiency with damp-toxin accumulation. Treatment: strengthen spleen and kidney, resolve dampness and toxin, promote healthy blood production.

After 3 months, transfusion frequency decreased from weekly to monthly. After 6 months, hemoglobin stabilized at 90g/L without transfusion. After 12 months, hemoglobin reached 110g/L.

Outcome

The young man successfully returned to school, passed his college entrance examination, and is now attending university. Continues maintenance TCM therapy.
